When and how to use SAJAZIR (icatibant)1

Hereditary angioedema (HAE) can cause episodes of swelling (commonly known as an attack) in any part of your body, most often in your face, feet, hands, stomach, genitals, and even your throat. Before an attack you may experience early warning signs. It is important to recognize these symptoms so that you can do something about them. The main symptoms to look out for are:2

  • Tingling
  • Rash
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Muscle aches

Taking treatment as soon as these symptoms appear may prevent an attack or reduce its severity.2 Remember, if you have a laryngeal (throat) attack, inject SAJAZIR and then go to the nearest hospital emergency room right away.

Before you begin treatment with SAJAZIR, you have the option to receive a welcome pack.

  • It’s important you complete the 1-to-1 injection training with your Cycle Vita registered product support nurse or your healthcare provider—the information provided here is designed to support, but not replace that training
  • You should also remember to tell your healthcare provider if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed, are pregnant or plan to become pregnant or talk about the medications you take and any other medical conditions you may have

Once you’ve been trained, having a prefilled syringe of SAJAZIR within easy reach,* will mean that you can use it to manage your HAE and self-administer SAJAZIR, as soon as you feel the symptoms of an attack.

*SAJAZIR injection is a prefilled syringe for subcutaneous use.1 Patients should not inject SAJAZIR until they have been trained by a Cycle Vita product support nurse or their healthcare provider.

Storing SAJAZIR1

  • Keep out of the reach of children
  • SAJAZIR may be stored at room temperature. Store between 36°F and 77°F (2°C and 25°C)
  • Do not freeze
  • Store in carton until time of administration

Place the used SAJAZIR syringe, with the needle attached, in a sharps container (such as a red biohazard container), a hard plastic container (such as a detergent bottle), or a metal container (such as an empty coffee can).

Seal the container and throw it away the right way. There may be state and local laws about the right way to discard used syringes and needles. Ask your healthcare provider or pharmacist how to discard used syringes and needles.
